We just returned from mapping a trail through Kenya’s West-Pokot County. The trail is meant for the Warrior Nomad Trail initiative to guide travelers through East Africa’s least travelled areas.
West-Pokot is located across the borders of Uganda’s Karamoja sub-region. It’s easy accessible by road from Amudat District. The main attractions are Mount Mtelo, Lake Turkwel, Nasalot National Reserve, Marish Pass and the traditional Pokot culture.
Together with a friend I visited the Ik tribe in northern part of Karamoja, and it turned out to be the most remote and culturally interesting region in Uganda I ever traveled! Don’t expect hotels and well catered camp sites.
We are incredible grateful to be able to host 50 Ugandan Tourism Startups to Visit Karamoja and share the value of Social Entrepreneurship for their businesses.
One year ago, Robin and Simon were one of our first guest that traveled to the remote northeast to Discover Karamoja with us. A few months ago we received the joyful news that Robin decided to visit us again and bring her father and his partner as well… even though they only had 2 days in total.
