After our climb of volcano Mount Kadam we have a rest day from Rafiki Lodge in the village of Sipi. The village is located on the mountainside of Mount Elgon, our next target.
It is wonderful to stay in Rafiki Lodge. Fine lodges, good food, a view of Sipi falls (mighty waterfall) and Miriam is a spontaneous and nice hostess.
On the rest day, Uganda connoisseur Brian takes us to Kapchorwa with our 4×4 van. We shop there, watch how Rolex (= rolled eggs) is baked along the side of the road and visit the running training center located at an altitude of 2,000 meters where many top athletes train. In short, a wonderful rest day ?
Tour operators among other stakeholders in Uganda and Ethiopia have been urged to promote tourism products and services in both countries as a single destination. This development will greatly improve the freedom of movement between the countries and Kara-Tunga’s initiative for cross-border tourism development in the region.
