It was a pleasure hosting the writer Jacob Wananda of The Elgon Trail Tourism Promotion Book in Moroto and gave him a taste of our culture and breathtaking landscapes on the motorbike!
“Set in a mountainous region, Moroto has an exciting cultural heritage, dramatic cliffs and several historical landmarks. Today i started off with a boda boda drive to the Uganda-Kenya border to enjoy panoramic views of the Turkana-Karamojong valley, then embarked on a strikingly temperate artisanal gold mining tour.
Later checked out the cattle kraal and watched them head to the grazing grounds happily. The Karamojong community tour was a marvel – a mix of the famous electric cultural performance and display of their way of life. Wait, there’s more – escape on a biking trail or nature walk with Kara-Tunga Tours.”

Tour of Karamoja was a fantastic adventure that combines a tough physical challenge with an off the beaten track adventure in less visited Karamoja Northeast Uganda.
Wonderful Birds Karamoja Northeastern Uganda – One of the treasures of Uganda’s Northeastern Karamojaland is the unique Birdlife sighted from the wetlands system in the South and West, the lush forests around the mountain ranges and the thorny acacia thickets and Savannah grasslands on the undulating plains in between.
There are many things people don’t know about Paul Sherwen. Many in the cycling world don’t know about his life in Africa and his work with Bicycles for Humanity, the Ugandan Karamoja area and animal conservation. Most people in Africa have no idea of his status in Europe, America and Australia.
