Restless Development is implementing the cultural tourism component with the support from partner Kara-Tunga Foundation due to it’s regional experience in developing and marketing sustainable cultural tourism in Karamoja.
The Youth Motivated Innovations for Karamoja Project is a pilot program which has the overall aim of supporting young (out-school youth) people to take a leadership role in bringing transformative change to Karamoja.
Therefore Kara-Tunga has been training 4 youth groups (76 members in total) from 4 sub counties in Moroto District. Youth representatives were taken to Kenya for exposure visit (watch below video) and their groups were trained on below subject on return:
Kara-Tunga launches Karamoja Workshop Tours – The Karamoja Workshops are tours aimed at connecting travellers with craftsmen, two-way sharing of knowledge, improving communities livelihoods and preserving cultural heritage. Through the workshops, craftsmen are able to double or triple their income and learn more about a potential group of buyers and fellow artists.
