One of our objectives is to preserve Karimojong Cultural Heritage through tourism and in collaboration with likeminded organisations. Therefore we partnered up with Miss Tourism Karamoja to contribute in enhancing the knowledge on culture of our future tourism ambassadors.
For a real tourism experience, the queens are camping at Kara-Tunga Guesthouse & Café and our guides provide a full day practical Boot Camp about tour guiding and cultural heritage.
The Boot Camp started with a Morning Culture & Nature Walk on Mt Moroto whereby knowledge was shared about the Tepeth-tribe (by oral history known as the original inhabitants of the Karamoja planes). Follow us this week for the rest of the boot camp taking place in a traditional village and ending with a night bush camping in the kraal.
Kara-Tunga Foundation – under the Karamoja Conservation Zones initiative – has trained farmers in Moroto and Nakapiripirit District in the basics of beekeeping. The training prepares farmers to manage beehives which will be placed in the Conservation Zones.
