First Aid Training for Tourism and Hospitality Professionals in Karamoja – Karamoja Tourism Academy (KTA) and the Warrior Nomad Trail initiative aim at building a competitive regional tourism sector by building the capacity of tourism and hospitality stakeholders. The intended result is to scale up the basic knowledge of first aid to advance in the future by developing and executing tailor-made first aid training that is in line with the guide’s field of work.
Warrior Nomad Trail initiative
This training is part of the Warrior Nomad Trail initiative founded by Kara-Tunga Foundation. The training executed by the Karamoja Tourism Academy (KTA) is enlightened to announce our partnership with the Uganda Red Cross Society to equip your staff with the skills to provide more safety for tourists visiting Karamoja.
Expectations
After these 5 days of training, your staff will be certified as ‘Red Cross Society Volunteers’ and able to provide First Aid. The Red Cross also supports creating safety guidelines for activities like hiking and trekking Mountain biking, fires and burns, CPR and cuts or wound dressing.
Target participants
Are you an entrepreneur or business owner who is currently working in the tourism and hospitality sector or industry in Karamoja? Would you like to skill your staff to become better first aid administrators? If your answer to one of these questions is yes, then this 5 Days First Aid training course is might be the perfect call for you.
The training is theoretical as well as practical. Full attendance and participation in all training modules are required to apply for certification. This training is targeting staff of SUPERVISORY ROLES in your organisation.
Exclusions
In addition, the selected candidates will be required to transport themselves to and from the venue and also accommodate themselves during the training. This training is on purely voluntary bases. Trainees are not receiving any kind of remuneration, facilitation or allowance.
Requirements
If you apply for this training, we expect that you will be able to fully commit yourself to the entire training program. This means that participants will be expected to attend every day of the training. There are limited slots available. The ideal candidate:
Is highly motivated to become a Red Cross Society Volunteer.
Is a young person below 35 but above 18 years old. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Has the ability to speak, read and write English even if they didn’t get any certificates from school.
Commits to all elements of the program (compulsory!)

Announcement of successful participants: Friday, 7th July 2023.
Training dates: Monday 10th July – Friday 14th July 2023.
