Karamoja Hiking Guides Assessment on Mount Moroto – Kara-Tunga is building a sustainable community-lead regional adventure tourism sector in Karamoja (Northeastern Uganda) by skilling Hiking Guides on Mount Moroto with partner Bergwandelen.com.
Together with our partners, we develop demand-based curriculum, train local trainers and local assessors aimed at increasing the accessibility and inspiring the community. This initiative is in partnership with our Karamoja Tourism Academy.
Today we are receiving hiking and trekking guides from the four key mountain ranges in Karamoja for an assessement by international expedition leader Jan Bakker.
Based on this study, he will develop a made-to-measure training programme with Bergwandelen.com for a training that’s taking place next year by Bergwandelen.com with international recognised certification!
27th September 2022, at World Tourism Day Celebrations, Kara-Tunga Tours was recognized by the Government of Uganda Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry, Uganda for Its “Passion and Promotion of Community Tourism in Uganda”.

Dutch hiking tour company Bergwandelen.com and expedition leader Jan Bakker will train a selection of hiking guides from various mountain ranges located in Uganda’s Karamoja sub-region, Kenya and South Sudan on the Warrior Nomad Trail. and have mobilised their network to donate hiking equipment.
