We are excited to receive the first donation of clothing and equipment for hiking guides from Dutch hiking tour company Bergwandelen.com, expedition leader Jan Bakker and Royal Dutch Climbing and Mountaineering Association (NKBV).
The initiative
Outdoor enthousiast know that having the appropriate type of equipment can play a big role in having a succesful adventure. Currently hiking tourism and adventure tourism in general is on the rise in Uganda, but quality and affordable equipment is still hard to find. The majority of people buys from the second hand markets and who can afford imports gear from abroad.

Donating quality second hands clothing and equipment
The 25 young women and men are coming from allover the region and have developed 25 new tourist products! They also learned about pricing, marketing, guiding and other practical adventure and community tourism skills.
Tour operators and trip planners from Mount Rwenzori, Mount Elgon and Karamoja sub-region Warrior Nomad Trail are participating in a workshop “Expedition Planning”.
We are proud to see our tour guides (Emmanuel, Peter, Brian and Thomas) being part of this milestone in professionalising Uganda’s tourism sector through government regulated licensing of tourist guides.
