This trip is part of the Warrior Nomad Trail initiative founded by the Kara-Tunga Foundation and part of the Adventure Tourism Uganda initiative.
The trip will traverse the Karamoja region from Saturday 22nd July 2023 to Saturday 29th July 2023.
Inclusions
Kara-Tunga will provide transport to and from Kampala, accommodation and meals during the trip. Drinks, tips and personal expenditures are excluded. Kara-Tunga at the end of the trip expects you to bring business to the region.
Exclusions
In addition, the selected candidates will be required to transport themselves to and from the point of pick-up in Kampala. This trip is on a purely voluntary basis. Participants are not receiving any kind of remuneration, facilitation or allowance. Any other meals and drinks out of those provided by Kara-Tunga are on you.
Target participants
We are targeting tour companies, and travel agents who are longing for diversifying their travel packages with off-the-beaten-path adventure and cultural experiences in Uganda’s northeast.
We are also targeting social media influencers who are interested in positively impacting the image of the Karamoja region by showcasing it as an outdoor adventure and authentic cultural tourist destination.
Requirements
We require that you will be able to fully commit yourself to the entire firm trip. This means that participants will be expected to attend all the days.

Gabriel Gersch supports development Uganda’s Warrior Nomad Trail – Gabriel has a special connection with the wilderness and especially Karamoja. Seven years ago, it’s believed that he was the first modern-day adventurer to walk the full length of Karamojaland in 100 years. He is therefore the perfect person to help develop the long-distance walking trail.
We are proud to see our tour guides (Emmanuel, Peter, Brian and Thomas) being part of this milestone in professionalising Uganda’s tourism sector through government regulated licensing of tourist guides.
With immediate effect (Monday July 26, 2021), the Republic of Kenya has waived the requirement of obtaining a visa to enter Kenya for Pasport holders of Republic of South Sudan. Premised on the principle of reciprocity, the Republic of South Sudan has also waived visa requirements for Kenyans wishing to visit their country.
Dutch hiking tour company Bergwandelen.com and expedition leader Jan Bakker will train a selection of hiking guides from various mountain ranges located in Uganda’s Karamoja sub-region, Kenya and South Sudan on the Warrior Nomad Trail. and have mobilised their network to donate hiking equipment.
