A few weeks ago we hosted three friends on a road trip through East Africa. Read everything about their Kara-Tunga experience here: www.elephantgrass.nl
I spent the first 12 years of my life in Uganda, going on many trips throughout the continent with my mother, the fact is however that I have never felt so touched by the rawness of Africa as I was in Karamoja. The trip really blew my expectations and in my mind was a glimpse of how Africa may have looked like thousands of years. If you have the chance to visit Uganda, don’t cut yourself short by only going to the west of the country for your standard safari. If you are looking for a real adventure filled with unforgettable encounters with such a powerful and untouched community, don’t miss Karamoja. – Yuri Blaak
In collaboration with the Mountain Slayers of Uganda we developed a weekend trip to Karamoja including a morning on the mountain, an authentic cultural experience and a visit to Kidepo Valley National Park.
Together with a friend I visited the Ik tribe in northern part of Karamoja, and it turned out to be the most remote and culturally interesting region in Uganda I ever traveled! Don’t expect hotels and well catered camp sites.
“We were 2 friends looking for a small Hike around Mount Moroto and what we experienced was beyond our expectations! Amazing hike organised with beautiful views and villages! Great interaction with the locals as well!” (Read the original review by Eleanor Pairet on Facebook)
Voluntary work in Karamoja Uganda – I checked a long existing bucket list item…. a trip to Uganda. What an experience this was! This truly is ‘the pearl of Africa’…
