We’re happy to share our progress in developing community-driven tourism enterprises near Uganda’s three national parks: Lake Mburo, Murchison Falls, and Kidepo Valley.
Tourist trends
As travelers increasingly seek sustainable and immersive experiences, these enterprises offer a unique opportunity for positive impact. Especially their ability to offer these experiences in the community conservancies and forest reserves, incentives conservation of biodiversity.
Approach
By working directly with local communities, we’re creating authentic experiences that not only benefit tourists but also support conservation efforts and economic development.

To ensure these experiences are accessible to all, we’re committed to making them easily bookable online for independent travellers. To ensure sustainability, the Conservancy plans to establish long-term partnerships with lodges and tour operators. It will also leverage its website and the updated Uganda Wildlife Authority guide, and list in popular travel guides in both English and French.
Kara-Tunga gave a Digital Marketing Workshop to 25 Ugandan Tourism Startups as part of their Tourism Entrepreneurs Training facilitated by the Karamoja Tourism Academy and utilising the UKARIMU Academy curriculum.
Malaika Honey and Kara Tunga Foundation officially opened the Karamoja sub-regional Honey Center in Moroto town. The centre is aimed at promoting beekeeping as a viable business and incentivising environmental conservation.
