We have come from far… tourism is positively changing the image of Karamoja and we hope that this collaboration with Uganda Tourism Board, NBS Television, NTV, UBC, can inspire tourism professionals and local communities to embrace Community Tourism in Karamoja as opportunity for inclusive development.
NBS Television will broadcast tourism in Karamoja in the coming weeks on national television. We are excited to play our part in promoting Karamoja as tourist destination in Uganda and East Africa at large.

The Warrior Nomad Trail is a community tourism initiative of Ugandan tour operator Kara-Tunga, aimed at preservation of cultural heritage, fostering a peaceful coexistence and conservation of biodiversity by creating economical opportunities among neighbouring tribes of Uganda, South-Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia. 24th May 2023 – Kara-Tunga Foundation hosted the French Ambassador to Uganda at the Karamoja Museum in Moroto. The ambassador visited our district for the first time to gain inspiration for future culture-related collaborations.
CNN listed Kidepo Valley among the 8 best Safari Destinationans in Africa and specifically mentioned Kidepo Valley ‘…most beautiful Safari Park in all Africa’. ‘Africa’s True African Wilderness’ located in the Karamoja region has been favoured again above worlds most famous Safari Parks as Serengeti (Tanzania), Kalahari Desert (Botswana), Etosha (Namibia) and Kruger (South Africa).
We at Kara-Tunga are thrilled to announce that we’ve been featured on the prestigious CBI website as a Best Practice for Socio-Cultural Preservation in the tourism sector.
Karamoja Safari featured in the Dutch and Belgium magazine called Columbus Travel Magazine. The magazine highlights a 20 pages travel report from climbing worlds Mt Elgon (4321m), an authentic cultural experience in Karamojaland and ending with an off the beaten path Wildlife Safari in Kidepo Valley National Park!
