At Kara-Tunga, we’re passionate about sharing the beauty and culture of Karamoja with you through our travel experiences and places to stay. Now, we’re excited to unveil a new way to experience Karamoja – with our Impact Tours!
These tours offer a unique opportunity to connect with the people and nature while directly contributing to positive change. You’ll get an unforgettable adventure, while supporting initiatives that empower local communities and conserve the environment.
Here’s a glimpse into our first two Impact Tours:
Shanita Education Impact Tour: Ever dreamed of making a lasting impact on a child’s future? This tour takes you to the heart of the Shanita Education Project. You’ll visit a local school, interact with students, and learn about the challenges and triumphs of education in Karamoja. Your participation directly supports teacher training, school supplies, and scholarships, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
Conservation Impact Tour: Karamoja boasts a stunning and diverse landscape. This tour puts you at the forefront of conservation efforts. You’ll participate in activities like tree planting and monitoring alongside local conservation rangers. Witness firsthand the importance of preserving this unique ecosystem for future generations.
These are just the beginning of our Impact Tour offerings. We’re developing new experiences that combine adventure with meaningful action.

Kara-Tunga Tours and Mountain Slayers Uganda have partnered to organise the first-of-its-kind Karamoja 3 Mountains Challenge 6 Days (3 Peaks • 69 Km • 5,442 m elevation).
It is a legal requirement that all employees undergo basic fire safety training at induction and periodically thereafter, expected annually in most workplaces. The training must be carried out by a competent person with suitable and sufficient skills and knowledge of fire safety.
Africa’s most popular online SafariBookings platform announced the annual winners. Even though Uganda did not win the overall score (Botswana #1, Tanzania #2, Zambia #3, Kenya #4, Uganda #5), it won the most important prize to me: The traveller’s vote.
