Karamoja Cultural Tour and Homestay
A full day and night cultural experience of the Tepeth-tribe living in the highlands of Mt Moroto and the Karimojong on the savannah planes.
Mt Moroto, Morning Hike Walk
The tour departs in the early morning for a scenic and cultural and walk through the valley of Mt Moroto, the highest mountain of Karamoja. The mountain is inhabited by one of Uganda’s smallest tribe, the Tepeth. They are the indigenous inhabitants of the Karamoja planes that escaped into the mountains when the Karimojong settled on their lands.
Visit the Karamoja Cultural Museum
The reasonable small museum hosts irreplaceable collections, which illustrate the rich cultural heritage of the entire Karamoja region and value the scientific collaboration between Ugandan and French researchers in the field of paleontology. The Karamoja Museum is devoted to the collection, conservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the entire Karamoja region.
Participate in daily life in the Ere (village)
Immerse yourself in Karamojong culture. The afternoon is spent participating traditional games, daily activities as preparing staple foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dance, how to shoot bow and arrow and traditional friendly wrestling.
An unforgettable night with the Nomadic Warriors (herders)
Experience typical Karimojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and shepherds in the Kraal. Help bringing the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors and learn how all about nomadic life.
Including: museum entree fees, camping gear, dinner, lunch, breakfast, water. Excluding: transportation, bookable at an additional 60,000 per person (boda boda) or $50 (vehicle) per car.
