Practical Assessment Karamoja Hiking Guides on Mount Moroto – We have concluded a fantastic week of assessing Karamoja’s Hiking Guides along the Warrior Nomad Trail for a future made-to-measure training programme that will be piloted with this group next year.
The facilitator Jan Bakker and Bergwandelen.com will develop a training program tailored to the conditions of Karamoja-like mountain ranges based on the International Mountain Leaders curriculum. The training programme will be part of the Karamoja Tourism Academy curriculum and accessible for anybody who’s interested in professionalising their trade.
Jan Bakker: “I’m very pleased to have worked with talented young people in a stunning environment. This place has so much potential for outdoor tourism. If you are interested in trips in this region, get in touch with Kara-Tunga Tours, based in Moroto. Kara-Tunga Tours is a great outfitter for Karamoja hiking and cultural trips. Here’s some pics of the Mount Moroto mini-expedition. The Kadam pics coming soon!
Yesterday we came back from a brilliant three day traverse of Mount Moroto with a team of local hiking guides, including the ascent of Moroto’s highest peak Sokudek (3083m). Amazing scenery and good vibes! Can’t wait to come back here! Thank you Kara-Tunga for facilitating this smooth mini-expedition!”
