It was a pleasure hosting the writer Jacob Wananda of The Elgon Trail Tourism Promotion Book in Moroto and gave him a taste of our culture and breathtaking landscapes on the motorbike!
“Set in a mountainous region, Moroto has an exciting cultural heritage, dramatic cliffs and several historical landmarks. Today i started off with a boda boda drive to the Uganda-Kenya border to enjoy panoramic views of the Turkana-Karamojong valley, then embarked on a strikingly temperate artisanal gold mining tour.
Later checked out the cattle kraal and watched them head to the grazing grounds happily. The Karamojong community tour was a marvel – a mix of the famous electric cultural performance and display of their way of life. Wait, there’s more – escape on a biking trail or nature walk with Kara-Tunga Tours.”

The proud Karimojong people in Uganda’s northeastern corner live for their cattle and women. Many decades of conflict made Karamoja unthinkable as a tour and travel destination. Today, the doors open to a fascinating culture and a folk refusing to give up their traditions.
Robin Y, Nov 2022 – Kara-Tunga is one of the most unique experiences i have had. So different from the rest of Uganda, at the top of the Mountains on the Kenya-Uganda escarpment, the views are breath taking.
Exploring Lake Turkana for the Warrior Nomad Trail – Dutch Photographer Jesse Simonis and Kara-Tunga travelled to the west of Lake Turkana in Northern Kenya to explore possibilities of including worlds largest desert lake on the Warrior Nomad Trail map.
Marije Boot (Netherlands), Tour of Karamoja 2022 – Marije participated for the second time in Uganda’s annual wilderness bicycle event and this year she brought a friend along.
