Theo Vos: “Not I but WE. This award is a recognition for the work of our Kara-Tunga family of employees, guides, host communities, local government and development partners. Together we are doing the unthinkable, and using tourism as a tool for sustainable development in East Africa’s least travelled areas.”
The criteria used for selection were the following ‘break-even travel’ principles for sustainable travel and a simple question: how does the nominee make the world a little better for travelers and the local population?
Karamoja Safari featured in the Dutch and Belgium magazine called Columbus Travel Magazine. The magazine highlights a 20 pages travel report from climbing worlds Mt Elgon (4321m), an authentic cultural experience in Karamojaland and ending with an off the beaten path Wildlife Safari in Kidepo Valley National Park!
Dutch cycling couple Paul Zuidgeest and Kathleen Verhelst are cycling through Africa and passed through Karamoja land with Kara-Tunga that took them to Kidepo Valley National Park.
