Kara-Tunga aims at making Karamoja a must visit destination with people at its centre. It therefore embarked on a journey through the region to sensitise 17 community tourism groups (600 members) along Karamoja’s Warrior Nomad Trail.
The communities were sensitised about the looming tourism opportunity and the need to embrace training programs, preserve our cultural heritage and biodiversity, foster peaceful coexistence, as well as diversify their tourism products to increase their incomes.
Sensitising regional stakeholders
For the second time, 35 key regional stakeholders attended the annual gathering aimed at fostering sustainable coordination of the regional tourism sector with the Warrior Nomad Trail at the centre.
The participants shared their input and ideas on the further development of the tourist trail and the sector at large. The formalisation of the regional tourism hospitality sector into one association was the most important action point and will be actioned upon during the next meeting in November.
